Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of cricket for three months after breaking his leg in a freak accident. The Aussie star was attending a friend’s birthday party when the incident happened.
After attending a Melbourne Stars, he went to another function in the evening. He was running around the tennis court of the house with the person celebrating his birthday when both of them fell, with Maxwell’s leg trapped under the other person.
His fibula was fractured and was operated on Sunday afternoon. His leg has been reset after a successful operation, but the right-handed batter is expected to be out of action for three months.
“It was an unfortunate incident and we feel for Maxwell as he was in great touch in his last few games. Glenn is a an important part of our white-ball plans and we will continue to support him through his recovery and rehabilitation,” national selection chair George Bailey said.
