Ravichandran Ashwin
The veteran spinner took to social media to applaud the Australian team and even praised his teammates for a stellar show

R Ashwin has heaped massive praise on his former teammate, Gautam Gambhir. In his conversation with Harsha Bhogle, Ashwin said that Gambhir is the most misunderstood cricketer in India.

“Gautam Gambhir is the most misunderstood cricketer in India,” he told Harsha. Calling Gautam the greatest teammate, the off-spinner further spoke about the qualities of the legendary opener.

“He was the greatest teamman, willing to go out and take a fight for his team. He was not very expressive but was always on your face,” he added.

Gauti scored 97 runs in the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka, which helped the host nation to win the title.

“No only his innings in the final but he played a lot of similar innings for India. He didn’t allow the pressure to come on the team when Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were dismissed. Even Virat Kohli departed after a while but Gambhir stood tall and played magnificent knock., He could have easily scored 120-130 runs but he was a selfless cricketer, who was only interested in team goals,” he concluded.
