Faf du Plessis, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, will be commentating in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 and the final. He finished the season with 730 runs and will join the TV broadcasters for commentary. Du Plessis will use hologram technology from South Africa.

Du Plessis confirmed the news on social media and expressed excitement about joining the Star Sports team.

Steve Smith also joined the commentary panel through hologram technology earlier in the tournament before leaving for Sussex. Venkatesh Iyer, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders, will be part of the Tamil commentary team.

Du Plessis was the leading run-scorer in the league stage, scoring 730 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of over 150. He had an excellent partnership with Virat Kohli, and together they were the main contributors to RCB’s scoring.

RCB finished 6th in the IPL 2023 points table and suffered a disappointing exit from the playoffs race. Despite posting 197 runs in their final league game, they lost to Gujarat Titans.

Du Plessis acknowledged that RCB needed significant improvement in their campaign and felt that they didn’t deserve to be in the knock-outs.
