Deep Dasgupta questioned Yadav's approach, which was largely focused on the sweep shot, even though he was struggling to play it

Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to miss the bus for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 in India. He hasn’t been a part of the ODI squad for a long time as the selection committee has tried different bowlers. Suryakumar Yadav could also miss the upcoming global event as he has failed to cement his place in 50-over format of the game.

Ajit Agarkar who is the new chief selector, is in Trinidad to discuss important issues with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.

“We can’t rule out Ashwin. The selectors will take a call as he has bowled well on Indian pitches. Ajit is the West Indies and will discuss the squads for the Asia Cup and the World Cup with Rohit and Dravid,” a BCCI official privy to the information told InsideSport.

However, things are not in favour of the the off-spinner. Ravindra Jadeja is the main spinner in white-ball cricket. He is followed by Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Axar Patel has been unstoppable in white-ball cricket.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t scored enough runs in one-day internationals to demand a place in the Indian team. With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer on the verge of attaining complete fitness, SKY’s days seem numbered.
