Aakash Chopra feels the UP Warriorz (UPW) made the right call by dropping Grace Harris and including Shabnim Ismail in her place in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
Ismail took 1 wicket and conceded 29 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, March 7.
DC scored 211 runs in 20 overs, but UPW managed 169/5, losing the contest by 42 runs.
“UP Warriorz dropped Grace Harris for Ismail. The main reason behind the call was that there was grass on the pitch. It was not the wrong call,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
The former player said that the Warriorz had limited options because of their picks at the WPL 2023 auction.
“They don’t go for big Indian players in the auction. They had to chose between the two and they went with the best one depending on the conditions,” he added.
He added that Healy did the right thing by bowling first. Chopra felt that chasing a total was easy. Chopra believes they wouldn’t have wanted to bowl with a wet ball, considering a lot of spinners in the playing XI.
