Rahul Dravid has demanded the participation of the Indian players in overseas T20 leagues after the semi-final defeat against England in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The Men in Blue fell short by 10 wickets, failing to end the title drought of 15 years.
Indian players are not allowed to play in the T20 tournaments, which many feel is behind players’ lack of performances in global events outside the home.
The Indian franchises, who have purchased teams in other leagues, had urged the BCCI to allow the Indian players to play for them, but their request was turned down.
After Rohit Sharma’s latest hammering, the head coach spoke about the need to play outside, as only having the Indian Premier League is not helping the cause.
“Playing in the overseas leagues certainly will help our players. It’s upto the BCCI to make the decision,” he said.
