The pressure is mounting on Dinesh Karthik after he failed in the last few games.

Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris on Friday, September 2, said India would have to bring in Rishabh Pant to the playing XI after Ravindra Jadeja’s injury.

The all-rounder suffered a right knee injury and has been sidelined. The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed Axar Patel as Jadeja’s replacement.

The Men in Blue preferred Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant. Pant returned to the team in the game against Hong Kong with the management resting Hardik Pandya to manage his workload.

However, with Jadeja injured, Styris believes India need a left-hander in the batting line-up.

“I think you have to make a change now and Pant must replace Karthik,” he said.

“Karthik has done nothing wrong but you can’t keep right-handers in the top 6 slots. Rishabh Pant has the ablity to go bang-bang against left-arm spinners and leg-spinners and should be retained,” he added.
