On Saturday, July 29, reports surfaced online that the ICC has given the green light to the USA and West Indies to host the 2024 T20 World Cup after a recent inspection. Unlike the previous tournament, which was held during the October – November window, the upcoming 2024 edition is likely to take place from June 4- June 30.
Earlier, there were reports that ICC would shift the tournament out of the USA because of lack of preparation, but a delegation inspected the venues in Florida, Morrisville, Dallas and New York and are happy with the progress. A total of ten venues across the USA and West Indies will be used in the 26-day-long tournament.

Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra posted a tweet about the tentative dates for the upcoming T20 World Cup and stated that it would have an impact on the IPL window.
Usually, the IPL takes place from the first week of April to the first week of June, but with the T20 World Cup slot in June, the cash-studded league is likely to be preponed.
“IPL-2024 to finish by 20th May then. If not earlier. We are looking at a mid-March start to the tournament,” tweeted Chopra.
Further, the 2024 T20 World Cup will see a change in the format, as 20 teams will take part in the tournament.
