Aakash Chopra was surprised by skipper Rohit Sharma's decision to give Mohammed Shami only one over.

India were dealt with a major blow in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. The speedster was ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup after injuring his back before the T20I series against South Africa.

The apex body of the Indian cricket tried its best to get him fit ahead of the tournament in Australia but after consulting with its medical staff, the BCCI declared him unfit.

Captain Rohit Sharma has revealed why the team management didn’t push Bumrah for the upcoming even Down Under.

“We consulted many specialists for Jasprit Bumrah and all told it’ll be risky to play him. Bumrah is just 27-28 years old. He has a lot of cricket left in him. The World Cup is a big stage, but his career is important,” said Rohit.

Bumrah has been replaced by Mohammed Shami after another contender Deepak Chahar was injured.
