“I can’t beg players to play for West Indies,” said the team’s head coach Phil Simmons. He slammed the players for preferring T20 leagues over country.
West Indies haven’t been able to finalize the core team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia due to players’ participation in T20 leagues across the globe and injuries.
“It hurts but you can’t do anything. I can’t beg players to play for the West Indies. If they want to play for their country, they will have to make themselves available,” Phil Simmons was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“Cricket has changed a lot and players have started giving importance to T20 tournaments. They don’t want to play international cricket,” he added.
Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis and many others are not available due to various reasons.
