Jammu-born speedster Umran Malik has replaced the injured Mohammed Shami for the ODI series between India and Bangladesh. On Saturday morning, Mohammad Shami got ruled out of the limited-over series set to begin on December 4 due to a shoulder injury he sustained in training post-T20 World Cup.

Malik, who was a part of the Indian team for the New Zealand tour, was left out of the Bangladesh tour. The BCCI posted an official update on their Twitter page confirming the change.

What was earlier said to be a hand injury is a shoulder injury. The BCCI medical team commented on Shami’s injury and said, “Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session. He is at NCA and will not travel to Bangladesh.”

Umran has played three ODIs and picked up three wickets.  Here is India’s updated ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour.
