KL Rahul is doubtful for the fifth Test against England. The right-handed batter, who was ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against South Africa due to his groin injury, has not recovered yet.

Rahul was named deputy to Rohit Sharma for the tour of England, where India will play three T20Is and as many ODIs apart from the final Test of the series.

There is no information on Rahul’s comeback. Now the national selection committee will have to name a new vice-captain, which could be Rishabh Pant.

Rahul is at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru but the sources have not confirmed whether he will be available for the white-ball matches.

The BCCI recently put out a statement saying, “Team India Captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury while Kuldeep Yadav will miss out in the T20I series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets last evening.” Kuldeep has also reported at the NCA.
