Rishabh Pant-led Team India will be looking to make a comeback in the second T20I against South Africa. India lost the opening match in New Delhi. Following the seven-wicket loss, Pant’s captaincy was criticized by former India cricketers like Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.

Pant’s senior teammate, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has defended the young skipper. Indian bowlers couldn’t defend 211 runs as a fourth-wicket century stand between David Miller, and Rassie van der Dussen helped South Africa to win the game.

Following the game, Nehra and Zaheer had questioned Pant’s decision not to give the full quota of overs to Yuzvendra Chahal, who bowled 2.1 overs.

“Rishabh Pant is a young captain, it was his first game. It happens with everyone. We didn’t bowl well and captain shouldn’t be blamed. If every decision he takes brings a wicket, everyone hails the call but if it goes the other way, people criticize. But I think, it is up to the bowling team on how the captain looks,” he added.
