Pakistan captain Babar Azam is on the verge of breaking Virat Kohli's major record in T20Is.

Asia Cup 2022 is two weeks away. India and Pakistan would lock horns in Dubai on 28th August.

Virat Kohli is back in the squad after his hiatus, which means the comparison with Babar Azam is also back.

Ahead of the spectacle of a match, 1992 World Cup-winning bowler Aaqib Javed has made a bold statement regarding Babar Azam and Virat Kohli.

Javed, who coaches Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League (PSL), said Babar Azam would never have a rough patch like Virat Kohli.

The former Indian skipper has failed to reach the three-figure mark since 2019. In recent series, he even struggled to score a half-century. Thus, he took a break from cricket.

Javed opined on Kohli and said, “After changing his technique, Kohli has become conscious of his weakness. Thus, he must bat freely to get out of the slump.”

He further said that technically sound players like Babar Azam, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root would not have a long rough patch like the one Kohli is going through currently.

He indirectly claimed Kohli to be the least technically gifted player among others.

“There are two types of players. One who gets stuck in a lean phase and remains in it for a long time. The others are technically-sound players, like Azam and Williamson whose rough patch cannot continue that long.”
