Babar Azam’s ideal batting position has become a topic of debate. Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has given his opinion on the matter.

Babar, who opened the innings for Pakistan in ODIs, has now started batting at No.3.

Many former players wanted Azam to change his batting slot, and the skipper is trying his best to contribute in the new slot.

Azhar feels Babar is not a natural opener, and demotion in the line-up will help him in the long run.

“Babar Azam isn’t a natural opening batter, he should try to bat at No. 3 or 4 in T20 cricket, and that’s when the ball swings less too. I think this demotion in the batting order will work for him,” he said.

Meanwhile, Babar hasn’t been successful as a captain in recent times. After Australia, England also defeated the sub-continent team in the Test series.

They managed to draw a two-match Test series against New Zealand but lost the ODI series by a margin of 1-2.
