He was mocked by PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja for scoring a ton in a dead rubber against the Mohammad Nabi-led team.

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has spoken about Virat Kohli’s return to form. The right-handed batter was the highest run-getter for India in the Asia Cup 2022. He hit two fifties and a century in the tournament and came out of his extended rough patch.

“Asia Cup was made for Virat Kohli. India didn’t win the tournament, but it helped Virat a lot. When he scored runs in the first match against Pakistan, there were three pull shots involved in his knock, which he was not playing when he could not score runs, and I thought this was a good thing for the batter,” said Manjrekar.

Kohli had been criticised for a long for his approach in the shortest format of the game, but he proved his critics wrong by scoring 122* from just 61 balls against Afghanistan.

“In the second match, when he scored his first half-century against Hong Kong, his power game came back, and in the last game, Virat was unstoppable. He ticked all the boxes against Afghanistan and hit big sixes as well. That innings has taken a lot of pressure away from him,” he added.
