For the past few days, several speculations circulated on the internet suggesting that Arul Lal would resign as the head coach of Bengal.

It is now official that the Bengal head coach Arun Lal has resigned from his post due to fatigue and life outside cricket.

Arun Lal coached Bengal for three seasons. For the first time in 13 years, Bengal made it to the finals in 2020 under his guidance. In the following season, they reached the semi-finals.

Apart from the success as a team, the club has had its share of problems to deal with. Firstly, the whole saga surrounding Wriddhiman Saha, where he was unhappy with the board for not supporting him in the crunch time of his career.

And lately, a few eyebrows were raised about him after Bengal surrendered weakly to Madhya Pradesh in the semi-finals. Things got nastier after he didn’t attend the season review meeting with CAB officials.

However, the former Bengal skipper revealed fatigue, health issues, and life outside cricket to be the reason behind his resignation.

He said, “It’s a very tough job. Nine months, 24×7, and almost seven months on the road. So, I thought it was time to stop, before being kicked out. And Bengal has been doing well, they are on the right track.”

Notably, Lal married for the second time in May. Hence, he requires time for his personal life. Adding to his words, he feels Bengal is on the right track, and the competition has gotten tougher.

He added, “The competition has become much tougher. Last year’s winners did not qualify for the semi-finals this year. The finalists this year did not make it to the semi-finals last year. Only Bengal made the knockouts in both seasons. So, they are in a good place.”

The Bengal board is yet to announce his successor.
