The 2nd Test match between England and Pakistan is underway in Multan. The Three Lions, batting first, struggled in the first session, as the Ben Stokes-led side was restricted to 180/5 after lunch on Day 1.
Pakistan’s debutant Abrar Ahmed weaved his magic and picked up a five-wicket haul. Despite so much action, the talking point after the first session was the on-field umpire Aleem Dar, who made three wrong decisions, including two in a single over, which is a rare sight in cricket.
Aleem Dar is one of the best in the business and has won several accolades for his work. The 2009, 2010, and 2011 Umpire of the year, Dar, had one of his worst days as an umpire as three of his decisions got reversed, which left the fans stunned.
Interestingly, all three decisions were made during Abrar Ahmed’s overs. Dar first gave Ollie Pope Out, which got reversed after Pope’s review. Later, in the same over, he adjudged Pope not-out for LBW, which also got changed after a successful DRS by Babar Azam.
His latest blunder was on the first ball off the 25th over, when he did not raise his finger for an LBW appeal when the ball brushed off Joe Root’s pad. Pakistan again took a DRS and proved Dar wrong for the 3rd time.

The retirement trend started on Twitter after seeing Dar’s poor performance.
