Ajinkya Rahane has signed a contract with Leicestershire County Cricket Club for the 2023 season. The Mumbai-based batsman will arrive in June after playing in the Indian Premier League 2023 with Chennai Super Kings.
Rahane will be available for eight County Championship matches, as well as the entire Royal London Cup (One Day tournament) in August.
The former vice-captain of Team India is the third overseas signing of the club after Wiaan Mulder and Naveen-ul-Haq.
This will be Rahane’s second county stint after he became the first Indian player to play for Hampshire in 2019.
Cheteshwar Pujara, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar and Umesh Yadav played in England last season.
