Virender Sehwag has left India's former captain Virat Kohli out of his top three batters for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

Virat Kohli has been criticized by former India cricketers and a section of Indian fans for his poor run with the bat. The 33-year-old didn’t have a mega season with Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. He has also struggled in international cricket, with his last century coming in 2019.

However, he is getting a lot of support from Pakistan. After Shoaib Akhtar’s statement in Virat’s favor, another cricketer in the form of Salman Butt has backed the former India captain. He stated that Kohli has set such high standards for himself that even his half-centuries have gone unnoticed.

Butt lauded Virat for setting himself as a role model after scoring runs at will in all the formats of the game since his debut in 2008.

“The ones who understand the game closely know that Virat is an institution in himself. The way he has performed as a player, as a batter, and as a captain makes him a person of the highest quality,” Butt said on his official YouTube channel.

“He has such high standards that even that fifties in eight of his last 14 matches went unnoticed. People think he is out of form because he scored centuries frequently,” he added.
