Aakash Chopra, former Indian cricketer, believes that if Mumbai Indians consistently play Australian all-rounder Cameron Green at number three, he will deliver runs. Green’s quickfire 41 runs off 23 balls helped MI secure a victory against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 Eliminator match.
Suryakumar Yadav has more often batted at the No.3 slot for Mumbai Indians. However, Green was promoted in the batting order in thr Eliminator game with LSG. SKY was demoted to the No.4 position.
Chopra expressed his views on his YouTube channel, emphasizing that MI underestimated Green’s potential when they demoted him in the batting order. He asserted that Green would perform exceptionally well if given the opportunity to bat regularly at number three.
In the current season, Green has amassed 422 runs in 15 matches and even achieved his maiden IPL century.
Aakash Chopra remarked that Cameron Green performed well and would continue to do so if consistently played at the number three position.
He criticized the decision to move Green down the batting order, stating that it diminished his impact and was not a pleasurable experience.
Chopra also commended Tilak Varma, a left-handed middle-order batsman for MI, praising his excellent batting skills and describing him as a rising star. Varma has contributed 300 runs in 10 matches this season, maintaining an impressive average of 42.86 and a strike rate of 153.85.
Furthermore, Chopra acknowledged MI’s scouting system, highlighting their ability to select a combination of talented young players and established names for their squad.
MI’s comprehensive 81-run victory over LSG at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai propelled them to the second Qualifier of IPL 2023.
Following their triumph over LSG, MI’s attention now turns to the defending champions, the Gujarat Titans, as both teams prepare to clash in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 26.
