Former India opener Aakash Chopra praised Virat Kohli’s exceptional performance in the IPL 2023, stating that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter had left no stone unturned in his efforts to help the team reach the playoffs.
Despite RCB’s elimination from the tournament following a heavy defeat against the Gujarat Titans, Kohli had a remarkable individual season.
In 14 matches, Kohli amassed an impressive total of 639 runs, achieving six half-centuries and two consecutive centuries in crucial matches.
Although he faced criticism for his strike rate on a few occasions, Chopra defended Kohli’s performances, emphasizing that he secured eight scores of 50 runs or more, including two centuries.
Chopra went on to commend Kohli for his dedication and regarded the 2023 season as his finest since 2016. Expressing his thoughts, Chopra acknowledged that some people might still criticize Kohli, but he firmly believed that the batter had done everything within his power to help RCB emerge victorious. Unfortunately, despite Kohli’s relentless efforts, it was not enough to secure RCB’s qualification for the playoffs.
