After months of political turbulence in Pakistan, a major development occurred on Tuesday, May 9, as former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan got arrested outside the Islamabad High Court.
Notably, there are over 100 cases registered against the former Pakistan cricketer and captain, but the arrest was made on the grounds of the Al-Qadir Trust dispute. When Khan arrived for the hearing of his bail renewal, the Parliamentary rangers arrested the 1992 World Cup-winning captain outside the court and put him in the prison van after grabbing him by the collar. Here is the video of the arrest.
The top lawyer from Imran Khan’s party confirmed the news and termed the arrest as ‘abduction’ and revealed that the rangers got physical with the lawyer. In the video, Imran’s lawyer can be seen bleeding after the violence.
In cricket, Khan made his debut at the age of 16 and was one of the best all-rounders of his time. In 263 games, Imran has 7516 runs and 544 wickets. He further led Pakistan to their maiden and only fifty-over World Cup in 1992.
Recently, Khan launched an attack on BCCI and called them an arrogant cricket superpower. “I find it strange that BCCI does not allow Pakistan cricketers to play in the IPL, it reeks of arrogance,” stated Imran.
