Former Australia cricketer, Brad Hogg has predicted that the Delhi Capitals are likely to finish seventh in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League, starting from September 19 in the UAE. Explaining the reason behind his bold statement, the 49-year-old legendary all-rounder said that the team doesn’t have a quality pace attack and is heavily reliant on South African speedster Kagiso Rabada.

The Delhi-based franchise finished third in the 2019 IPL with nine wins and five losses.

With Shreyas Iyer leading from the front, the team qualified for the playoffs last year. However, they failed to defeat MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the play-offs.

Hogg believes that DC have one of the most formidable batting line-ups in IPL 2020. According to him, the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer are going to score plenty of runs in the UAE.

“Delhi Capitals' top six looks very formidable, a mixture of experience with youngsters. They have got Dhawan at the top, along with Shaw, Pant, and Iyer. So, they are going to make plenty of runs,” Hogg said in his latest YouTube video.

“But they are highly dependent on Rabada. If Rabada gets injured, Delhi Capitals are in a lot of trouble. Because they don't have the quality pace attack, they are going to finish roundabout 7th."

The Aussie also showered praise on young batsman Prithvi Shaw and reckoned that he will be a player to watch for in the forthcoming tournament.

Comparing Shaw with cricket greats Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar, Hogg said, “The standout for the Delhi Capitals, I think is going to be Prithvi Shaw. I think it is time for him to make runs and show the world how good he actually is. He is a bit like Lara and Tendulkar."
