Former cricketers, fans and celebrities from different spheres of life are urging BCCI to boycott the World Cup match against Pakistan, which is scheduled to be played on June 16 at Manchester.
However, there are many, who are not in favor of forfeiting the upcoming game against arch rivals in the showpiece event. Former minister Shashi Tharoor took to twitter and batted in favour of the tie.
He stated that if India refuse to play with Pakistan, it would be worse than surrender.
His post read, “Reminder: at the height of the 1999 Kargil War, India played Pakistan in the cricket World Cup, & won. To forfeit the match this year would not just cost two points: it would be worse than surrender, since it would be defeat without a fight.”
