Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan, who suffered an injury to his left ring finger in the finale of the Bangladesh Premier League, has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

“An X-ray was done after the match and the results have confirmed a fracture on the left ring finger. The affected area will now have to be immobilized for around three weeks,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying in a BCB media release.

He will also miss the first Test against New Zealand in order to allow him time to recover fully and be ready for the World Cup in England & Wales.

It’s a heartbreaking news for one of the best all-rounders who just made return from a career threatening injury to his bowling hand that he had sustained during the Asia Cup.

He was adjudged as the best player of the recently concluded edition of Bangladesh Premier League.
