Team India suffered another injury scare in the ongoing Test series against Australia as Umesh Yadav limped off the field midway through his fourth over on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The incident happened during the 8th over of Australia’s second innings when Umesh seemed to have hurt his knee as he wobbled after completing the run-up. Yadav then called for immediate medical attention and eventually headed towards the dressing room. Mohammed Siraj had to complete the remaining three balls of Yadav’s over. According to the latest reports, he was taken for the scans to determine the nature of his injury.

With Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami already missing from the series, the recent development could be a massive setback for the visitors.

After the stand-in skipper, Ajinkya Rahane and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja powered India to 326 runs, Umesh Yadav dismissed the Australia opener Joe Burn for 4 runs before Ashwin provided yet another breakthrough in the form of Marnus Labuschagne in the 18th over.

At the end of the third day’s play, Australia were 133/6 with Camron Green and Pat Cummins at the crease.
