Ajinkya Rahane, who is leading Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing edition of the IPL, has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during his team’s match against Chennai Super Kings.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, (Ajinkya) Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh,” read an official IPL statement.

Rajasthan were at the receiving end once again as they lost the match by 8 runs. MS Dhoni’s special knock won the game for his side after they were asked to bat first by Rahane.

The skipper of Chennai Super Kings scored an unbeaten 75 runs and despite Ben Stokes late hitting, Royals couldn’t cross the finish line.
