Indian women defeated New Zealand by eight wickets in the second ODI to take 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first, the hosts scored 161 runs in 44.2 overs. Skipper Amy Satterthwaite top-scored for her side with 71 runs off 87 balls.

Indian pacer Jhulan Gosami was the wreck-in-chief picking up three wickets in the process. Ekta Bisht, Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav and Shikha Pandey shared remaining wickets.

Chasing 167 runs to clinch the series, Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj remained unbeaten on 90 and 63 respectively to guide India to 8 wickets win.

The final ODI will be played on Friday at the Seddon Park, Hamilton.
