The Indian cricket team tops the chart in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2019-21. The Virat Kohli-led Indian side has notched 360 points after seven Tests and three series in total. They have a 100% record at the moment. On the other hand, Australia have been making the right noises.

After drawing the 5-match Ashes 2019 series 2-2, the Aussies were terrific in the recently-concluded two-match Test series against Pakistan. Australia won both the Tests by an innings margin and picked up all 120 points. They have 176 points from two Test series and have played seven matches.

Australia will look to enhance themselves in the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand, starting December 12. There are 120 points on offer and expect the side to be on the top of their game. Australia are a real force at home and that makes them a dangerous unit.

New Zealand will be a tough opponent for the Aussies, however, one expects Australia to stand tall with the balanced side on offer. With four more series to go for Australia, Tim Paine-led side can be a strong prospect in the Championship.

Here we present three reasons why Australia are a real force in the ICC World Test Championship.

The pillars in batting provide consistency

David Warner has regained his touch after a dismal Ashes 2019 and slammed two match-defining tons against Pakistan that included a 335*. In Marnus Labuschagne, the Aussies have found a new Mr. Consistent. Right since coming on during the Ashes, he has piled up the most runs this year. And then, you have Steve Smith. The best batsman in Test cricket can give you the platform to strike gold more often.

Bowling is Australia’s main strength

The Aussie pacers have been top notch and they know how to get about business. The likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins complement each other. They are a deadly trio and pick up wickets in a heap. The combination could help Australia dictate the show against any side in the world.

The aggression is getting back

After the ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australian cricket last year, the Aussies struggled for intensity and looked lost. Injuries, poor form and absence of key players hurt them. Now there is a real swagger in this side. The aggression has returned and players look hungry to perform and set the bar high. This is crucial to succeed.
