Team India has experienced an abysmal start to their tour of Australia, losing the one-day series after being beaten comprehensively in the first two ODIs of the three-match series Down Under.

Both these defeats came amidst India’s lackluster bowling as the Aussies piled totals of 374 and 389 in the two matches, respectively. Jasprit Bumrah has looked completely out of rhythm, despite a great IPL season ahead of the series.

He has leaked more than 70 runs in both the matches and has bagged just two-wicket in the series so far. His partner, Mohammed Shami, has more wickets under his belt but he too has been inconsistent.

Young pacer Navdeep Saini meanwhile has been short of ideas on the flat and bouncy tracks Down Under, feeding batsmen just the kind of length and pace they want. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravindra Jadeja have also been ineffective too.

WIth Virat Kohli having almost nothing to fall back upon, Kuldeep Yadav and T. Natarajan, who are also part of the squad, could get a look in on Wednesday at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

In the same light, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has lashed out at the bowlers for their inconsistency. Pathan took to Twitter and said that India’s bowlers are of the highest quality, as they have performed well in the past, but their inconsistency has cost the team this time around.

“Quality of our bowlers is unquestionable but consistency is. It was all about finding the right length in Australia that too quickly which hasn’t happened yet #AUSvIND,” Pathan wrote on Twitter.
