MS Dhoni might have retired from international cricket and people could still see him playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), still, the wishes from people from all walks of life for one farewell match for the legend doesn't seem to end.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) too is willing to host a farewell match for the greatest Indian captain, but the officials are varied of Dhoni's acceptance of it.

"As of right now, there is no series, but we would surely like to give him a farewell once the IPL gets over. The number of things he has achieved for the nation, I think he deserves much more than a farewell,” a BCCI official told news agency IANS.

“But Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it," the official added.

But the BCCI said that whether or not Dhoni accepts, but the Board can't just let him go away like that and it would definitely have 'a proper felicitation ceremony for him.' The official said that 'It will be the board's honor to felicitate him.'

Jharkhand Chief Minister had asked for a farewell match for Dhoni

Earlier, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, had requested BCCI to organize a farewell match for the greatest ever cricketer to have graced the land of Jharkhand.

"Our beloved and pride of Jharkhand, Mahi would not be seen playing in that all-important Blue Jersey anymore. It is therefore my request to BCCI that a farewell match for him should be announced and played in Ranchi, Jharkhand, which could be witnessed by people across the world. Jharkhand is ready to host it," Hemant Soren had tweeted on 15th August, the day Dhoni announced his retirement.
