Yuvraj Singh recalls that time which took "joy out of everything"

Yuvraj Singh has to be one of the best finishers that world cricket has seen. Yuvraj and MS Dhoni finished innumerous games for India in limited-overs cricket. The southpaw was an outright match-winner during his heydays. He could bat aggressively and turn the match on its head.

The Indian all-rounder was also central to India's World Cup win in 2011. It was India's first World Cup triumph since the 1983 World Cup. Yuvraj ended up as the Man-of-the-Tournament for his exceptional all-round displays throughout the mega event. But it was also the worst phase of Yuvraj Singh's life as he was diagnosed with cancer, shortly after, which turned his life upside down.

Yuvraj Singh was quoted as saying by Cricketnext, "The diagnosis of cancer shortly after the high of the World Cup victory, it took the joy out of everything, it was a very dark moment in my life, that little mental wince again. When you win the World Cup, when you are Man of the Tournament, you are on top of the mountain. Suddenly, you fall in the ditch. It's just life, you don't expect that -- you are left with no choice."

But Yuvraj battled against all the odds and showcased the heart of a warrior. He not only fought and won the battle against cancer, but also went on to make a comeback in the Indian side, which is a massive achievement after such a traumatic illness.
