VVS Laxman Names The Best Overseas Batsman in India

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has picked Steve Smith as the best among the current generation when it comes to impressive display in India. He was asked this question during an interactive question-answer session on Twitter.

Laxman gave example of Smith's century in Pune last year where Australia defeated India. He scored 109 off 202 balls on a track which had ample turn.

"Sir which overseas batsman impress u most while playing in India," one of the fans asked Laxman. Replying back, he wrote: In the current generation it is Steve Smith. His 100 at Pune was one of the best by an overseas player.”

Smith is currently serving a ban of one year after the infamous ball tampering saga unfolded in South Africa earlier this year. The former Aussie skipper was recently topped by Virat Kohli from the top position in Test batsmen's ranking.
