Virat wanted former Indian opener as coach and not Ravi Shastri

The saga around Team India’s coach is still alive with statements flying thick and fast. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who was one of the candidates, has fired a fresh salvo, indicating that Virat Kohli was interested in his services as coach but his suggestion was ignored by the committee concerned.

“When it comes to the selection of the coach, the role of the captain is only to give a suggestion. Virat Kohli wanted me to become the coach of the Indian team. When Kohli had contacted me, I had obliged for the same but did not become the coach. So, one cannot really say that the captain has a major say in all issues,” said Sehwag.
