The young gun of Jharkhand- Ishan Kishan

The land of young brigade, Jharkhand is busy producing another cricketing sensation. Ishan Kishan is the new master coming up from this very land. Ishan told us about his experiences as well as his future plans regarding cricket while a conversation with us.

  1. The result didn’t go in your favor so according to you what went wrong?
  2. We knew the track was green but the only thing which went wrong was that we didn’t held on the innings and were not able to focus on our natural game properly.

  3. How have been your journey from the starting?
  4. I used to play for Bihar initially and my coach was Uttam Majumdar. My elder brother used to play cricket seriously whereas, I used to play it for fun and wasn’t quite serious about it. Uttam sir saw me batting and asked my father to make me take my game seriously. Bihar at that time lost its affiliation and therefore, I came to Jharkhand. I was quite fortunate as when I shifted here in Jharkhand, the open trials were announced where I got selected to play for u-19 and days cricket.

  5. In which year did you play u-19?
  6. I played under 19 three years back.

  7. Which is your most memorable innings?
  8. My most memorable innings came on my debut in days cricket where I scored a fighting 61 runs against Assam. It was a special innings as I was under pressure because I had to cement my place in the team.

  9. Who is your cricketing idol?
  10.  David Warner is my cricket idol and I love his stroke making ability.

  11. Which format do you like the most and why?
  12. I love playing one day format as I am playing the limited overs format continuously.

  13. How do you manage your cricket and studies?
  14. I have taken admission in College of Commerce in Patna. My principal is quite supportive as he easily allows me to sit for the examinations.

  15. Which team would you like to choose if IPL approaches you?
  16. I would love to be a part of CSK because of MS Dhoni else I would like to play for Rajasthan Royals because they give a lot of opportunities to youngsters.

  17. What are your future plans?
  18. I just want to play right now as much as possible and want to deliver my best for the team.

  19. Other than cricket which is your favorite sport?
  20. I play Table Tennis and Billiards.

  21. How difficult it was to emerge from a state like Bihar and make your name?
  22. It wasn’t that difficult for me to make a name here as I was lucky to be a part of the open trials as soon as I shifted here in Jharkhand. In my days cricket debut I scored 88 in the first innings and 97 in the second which helped me cement my position more efficiently.

  23. Ishan, tell us something about your family.
  24. In family I have father, mother and an elder brother. My brother used to play cricket brilliantly but he gave up his game for me so I want to perform well for my brother.

  25. MS Dhoni would be included in the team. How are you feeling?
  26. It is going to be a great honor playing alongside Indian skipper.
