The Services’ fast bowler is off to a flying start in his first ever Ranji season. He picked up 13 wickets in his debut match against Jharkhand and showed great capability and bowling ability. Pathania though previously made an appearance in the 2014 Vijay Hazare trophy where he played 6 matches and picked up 9 wickets but he faced an exclusion from Services team due to injury.

Pathania opened up about his experiences while talking to us.

  1. How are you feeling after picking up 13 wickets in your first ever Ranji match?
  2. I am really feeling good about myself after picking up 13 wickets on my debut Ranji game. I am quite confident right now.


  3. Tell us something about your cricketing journey.
  4. I am from an army background and have been playing professional cricket for the last 5 years. I made my List A debut two years back in the Vijay Hazare trophy.


  5. Who is your bowling idol?
  6. I look up to England’s James Anderson as my bowling idol but if we talk about the Indian bowlers then I like Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s way of bowling.


  7. Every cricketer dreams about eventually playing for the nation but presently what goals have you set for the near future?
  8. Presently, I am just focusing on the domestic season. I am not thinking about future as if I am able to produce 40-50 wickets in this season I will surely get further opportunity. So focus is on the Ranji season right now.


  9. Being a part of the Ranji tournament is a big thing itself. So tell us something about it.
  10. I made my List A debut in Vijay Hazare trophy almost two years back where I was quite successful before I got injured. This is my first Ranji season and I have got a brilliant start so I am feeling good about my game.


  11. Tell us something about your training and how do you manage to keep a balance between your fitness as well as your bowling speed?
  12. We have our trainer in Hyderabad who looks after our training schedules and fitness. Generally we all stay and train in Hyderabad and only go out of the town to play our matches.
