Sri Lanka look to halt Indian juggernaut

After ruthlessly annihilating Sri Lanka in the Test series, Virat Kohli and his men continued their dominant run in the first ODI at Dambulla as well. Shkihar Dhawan pummeled the Sri Lankan bowlers with a whirlwind ton while Virat Kohli dented the their confidence with an unbeaten 82. Now whats next?, can Sri Lanka stop the Indian juggernaut or the fans will once again witness an unrelenting India humiliating a struggling Sri Lankan unit?. All questions will be answered when the two opponents lock horns in the second ODI at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium today.

It is a great opportunity for Indian management to test their bench strength but going by their previous strategies, Kohli seems a bit hesitant in modifying the winning combination thus a change in the playing XI seems highly unlikely, India though can shuffel their batting order to get some crucial time in the middle to KL Rahul and Kedar Jhadav who hasn’t got much opportunity to hit the ball on the tour. Sri Lanka on the other hand already went in with their best XI thus they would also like to stick the same combination, at least for a couple more games.

The reason for Sri Lanka misery has been the lack of temperament and zeal from their batsman to battle out there in the middle, their batsman have got starts but failed to convert it into a big one. In the last game as well Sri Lanka looked like getting a score near 300 but eventually collapsed to a mere 216. Their bowling has been their weak link for the past few years but with their batting falling like a pack of cards, for them to defeat a class team like India will be a hard pill to swallow.

For Sri Lanka, until or unless they put up an extraordinary show, the difference between the no 3 and no 8 ranked team will once again be justified.
