RCB vs SRH – Preview: Bangalore bank on home support to overcome table-toppers

Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight at their home ground at the Chinnaswamy in Bangalore. Currently, placed at the seventh position, the hosts need to win their remaining two matches if they are to qualify. After going through a topsy-turvy ride this year they will consider themselves lucky if they find themselves in the top four. At the same time they would be vary of the Sunrisers' bowling stocks. They would know that they need a big score if they have to beat the Men in Orange.

Hyderabad on the other hand have ticked most of the boxes this season. They were the first team to qualify for the playoffs and are going to try whatever combinations they deem worth it before the business end of the IPL begins. With a high quality bowling attack and a batting which has proved that it's ready to shed the tag of slow-movers the Sunrisers have been a revelation in this tournament but they should be wary of not peaking too early.

In focus

The match is being touted as a battle between RCB's power hitters and Sunrisers' variety filled bowling. While Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have long been the batting mainstays of the Bangalore lineup, a collective batting effort from the side is yet to be seen. Their bowling has been just about par for the competition and might come under severe stress as they did against Jos Buttler and Co. in the last match against the Royals.

After starting the IPL with a bang Rashid Khan has fallen behind in the wickets column recently and would be eager to add a few scalps to his account tonight. In conjunction with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma, the trio is unarguably the most effective bowling trio going around.
