Prime Minister Narendra Modi Has A Special Message For Afghanistan Cricketers

It is not easy to become a cricketer in Afghanistan. The constant war and threats from Taliban are the hurdles standing in the way of players. Even during the holy month of Ramadan, the blood shed has not stopped.

During one of the local tournaments recently, a power explosion triggered the death of several innocent Afghani nationals, leading to chaos and mayhem in the country.

Despite ups and down, players have blossomed and are shinning in international cricket. Started as minnows, Afghanistan is now one of the most competitive teams. Having being granted ODI and T20 status long back, their performance in the Fifty Over World and T20 World Cup deserve praise.

Taking note of their tremendous rise, the governing body of international cricket has allotted them Test status. They are currently playing their first Test match against India. Congratulating them on their journey, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minster of India, welcomed them to Test cricket.

The words were highly appreciated by Dr. Shaida Abdali, the Afghan ambassador to India. He wrote- “Thank you Honorable PM @narendramodi for your very warm message and generous contribution towards the Afghan Cricket team!”
