Home coming for legendary Shane Warne

It was expected when the former Australian leggie announced that there is something special in store regarding the Indian Premier League. Taking down the curtains from the anxiety of fans, it has been revealed that he has joined Rajasthan Royals – his former franchise – as mentor. The franchise is making their return to the fold after being suspended for two years. After completing the hiatus, the Indian Cricket Board had welcomed them, signaling the intention of the keeping old horse together.

According to the statement released by the franchise, Shane Warne will work closely with leaders of the team, especially skipper and other key members of the management. He will have an additional responsibility of grooming the young spinners and teaching them about the do’s and don’ts of spin bowling. Shane Warne is delighted at the prospect of coming back to the franchise he led to first and only IPL title in 2008.

“I am very happy and excited to be back with the Rajasthan Royals who I believe hold a very special place in my cricketing journey. I am overwhelmed by the love and affection showered on me by the franchise and fans of Rajasthan Royals. We have a strong, young and energetic bunch of boys and I am looking forward to work with them,” he said according to the statement released by the franchise.
