Hitman hits third ODI double ton, his second against Lanka

Celebrating his captaincy in style, Rohit Sharma, the stylish Indian batsman, scored third double ODI ton, his second against Sri Lanka. He was in superb touch from the first ball he faced in the second ODI.

In his knock of an unbeaten 208 runs, he hit 13 fours and 12 sixes, proving once again that he is one of the best batsmen in shorter formats. His sublime hitting broke the back of Lankan attack, making them look ordinary.

He was well supported by Shreyas Iyer, who scored a valuable 88 runs, missing out on his first ODI ton.

Rohit Sharma is the only player, who has accumulated three double tons in one day internationals. Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle are the other batsmen, who have reached this landmark once in their career. Prior to his third double century, Rohit Sharma had scored 209 runs against Australia in 2013.

Keeping his march towards history, he played a world record knock of 264 runs against the rainbow nation in 2014. His brutal hitting and clever placement was unmatchable, killing hopes for any sort of comeback by Sri Lanka.

His latest knock is another feat in an already fabulous year for him, where he has compiled more than one thousand runs.
