Gautam Gambhir has strong words for people comparing Shaw with Sehwag

Prithvi Shaw has attracted everyone's attention right since his debut Test match. The youngster smashed a brilliant century in Rajkot against West Indies. The 18-year-old accumulated 134 runs off 154 balls. The way he went about his game got him comparisons with former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag, who used to play an explosive brand of cricket upfront even in the longest format of the game.

Gautam Gambhir, who has opened the batting alongside Virender Sehwag on innumerous occasions for India and otherwise warned people to think" twice" before comparing the two. The southpaw feels Shaw has a "long way to go" as he is very new to international cricket.

“He [Shaw] has got his own individuality and Sehwag had his own individuality. He has just started his career and someone like Sehwag has played 100 Test matches," said Gambhir.

Gambhir termed Shaw as very "impressive" and "talented." But he feels the young batsman would be confronted with "far bigger" and "far difficult challenges" in days to come.

The 58-Test-old added, "It’s got to be a challenge, big challenge [in Australia]. We might talk about Australian batting because they don’t have Smith and Warner but they still have a formidable batting [line-up] in their backyard.”

India will take on West Indies in the second Test match at Hyderabad from October 12.
