Faltering strike rates of Dhoni, Pandya is alarming

Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth is concerned with the form of Rohit Sharma and the dwindling strike rates of MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya. The Hitman of the Indian cricket is one of the best ODI batsmen but has been below par in South Africa so far, leading to unexpected starts in almost all the games against Proteas. Even Hardik Pandya, who had a terrific home season, has failed to carry on the promise he showed in India, either getting dismissed or conceding too many runs when asked to bowl by his skipper Virat Kohli. The old master MS Dhoni is finding impossible to hit the ball in the death overs, his slow batting caused India dearly in the fourth ODI.

“The form of Rohit Sharma is a big concern and so is the strike rate and consistency of Dhoni and Pandya. Rohit is too good a player in this format to be missing out, especially in proper batting conditions,” K Srikkanth was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

“Dhoni failed to accelerate as he has in the recent past (in the fourth ODI). The former captain and Hardik Pandya could not have hoped for a more solid platform to launch an attack and get India to a massive score,” he added further.
