Dhoni told me to concentrate on batting, wants me to become a proper batsman – Sir Ravindra Jadeja

Having been left out of the ODI and T20 squad, Ravindra Jadeja has turned back to domestic circuit to improvise his game in order to stage another comeback in the Indian team. He recently scored a match winning hundred in the Vijay Hazare trophy, showing his prowess and stroke range. The dashing left hand batsman has revealed that it was MS Dhoni who told him to work on his batting as he feels that he can become a proper batsman. Actually, the former Indian captain wants to use him like a top order batsman in the Indian Premier League where they both will represent Chennai Super Kings.

“Mahi bhai told me that I will get batting opportunities in the IPL this year. He said that I have the ability of a proper batsman, and I am not the flash in the pan type of batsman. And I should think like that,” Jadeja said.

He was retained by the Chennai based franchise and he thanked them for their gesture. “It was really encouraging for me. So, I am concentrating more on the batting aspect of my game and trying to get used to playing the anchor role.”

Jadeja had to warm the bench in the concluded Test series against South Africa with Ashwin getting preference over him.
