Veteran Sri Lankan cricketer, Lasith Malinga made his last international appearance against Bangladesh at R.Premadasa Stadium on Friday. It was an emotional time for all his fans, who have witnessed his illustrious career unfold. He ended with figures of 3/38 and picked up wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, and Mustafizur Rahman.

After the game, the Sri Lankan great said, “I feel it’s the right time for me to retire from ODIs. I have been playing for the last 15 years for Sri Lanka and this is the right time to move on. My time is over and I have to go.”

Malinga led Sri Lanka to WT20 win in 2014. But, it has to be his yorkers and death bowling that made him one of the best limited-overs bowlers in the world.

The 35 years old played 226 ODIs and took 338 wickets at an average of 28.87 and strike-rate of 32.36. He also made 30 appearances in Tests wherein he claimed 101 wickets. In T20Is, Slinga Malinga picked 97 wickets in 73 games at an economy of 7.3.
