HIGHLIGHTS

KL Rahul, who triggered a storm following his sexist comments on Koffee With Karan, has received words of appreciation from Kings XI Punjab's co-owner, Preity Zinta. The Indian opener had to bear the brunt of public anger and was even suspended by the BCCI. However, since his comeback to cricket, KL Rahul is making his bat do all the talking.

According to Preity Zinta, Rahul is respectful towards women and it was sad to see him landing in the middle of controversy for the comments made on the TV show. He has scored 91 runs in four innings including an unbeaten knock of 71.

"It is so good to see Rahul back in form. He is a very very nice guy. What happened is in the past. I just feel the bad the way the whole thing turned out but you live and learn," Zinta told PTI.

"Actually, he is very sweet and respectful with women, so I don't know the way it all came out. As I said, these are teachable moments," she added.

When asked whether she shares her experiences with the youngsters of the team, she said: "Yes, we do have those conversations, we have been there and done that. These are young guys and they will live and learn with time. Unless you make a mistake or falter, you will never learn."

Nothing is impossible for me, says Andre Russell after hammering RCB

Staff Writer Updated: 6 April, 2019, 11:38 AM IST

HIGHLIGHT

When it looked like RCB will end up winning their first game of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, Andre Russell pressed the destruction button leading KKR to victory by 5 wickets. The stage was set for the West Indies all-rounder but was kept quiet for the first five deliveries of his innings. However, Siraj's beamer allowed Russell to open up his big arms and the rest is history.

He scored an unbeaten 48 runs off 13 balls, which was laced with seven sixes and one boundary. After his blistering knock, Russell said such chases doesn't happen every day but he was backing himself to lead KKR to another win.

“I was confident when I went out to bat. DK was telling me to take a few balls to see how the pitch is behaving. I was watching in the dugout on TV and had a fair idea. When you need 68 off 20-odd balls, it doesn't happen every day. Need to put your body on the line. The nature of T20 is such that one over can change the momentum. That's why I never give up,” Russell said in the post-match presentation.

“A part of me was saying that the runs needed were too much but I wanted to fight and eventually, we won with five balls spare. The support is good from the boys and I am in a good space so that I can express myself. No ground is big enough for me I guess, I just trust my power. Hand-eye coordination is the key (for low full tosses) as they aren't easy to hit. I try short arm jabs as extending the arms can put you in trouble. Can't explain much, rather show that on the field,” the KKR all-rounder added.

HIGHLIGHT

Andre Russell is having the form of his life at the moment. The powerful West Indies all-rounder has come into IPL 2019 and bossed the field. There hasn't been anyone as destructive as the explosive Russell. His eye for details has helped Kolkata Knight Riders earn victories from difficult situations. For the fourth game in a row, Russell showed his magic in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season.

KKR have managed to seal three wins out of four matches in IPL 12. They sit second on the table and it's all because of one man - Andre Russell. The big-hitting all-rounder has played shots all around the park and its sheer madness to watch him attack bowlers at the death with such finesse. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals and now Royal Challengers Bangalore faced the brunt of Russell's power.

The stage is almost set for this man. He comes in towards the end and pulls off the magic tricks from the hat. His hand and eye coordination is just superb. Be it clearing one leg and hammering bowlers through mid-wicket region or dispatching length balls straight down the wicket, Russell is a sensation. Lower full-tosses are dispatched at ease with the right-handed batsman playing the short-arm jab. This is extraordinary batting.
