Big Blow for Delhi Capitals, this might well put their IPL campaign in jeopardy!

Staff Writer Updated: 5 April, 2019, 3:33 PM IST

HIGHLIGHTS

Delhi capitals, which possess a very promising squad have lost their last two matches. They have won two and lost three games in their 2019 IPL campaign thus far. One of the most important things for any team in IPL is how they fare in home games. Every team gets to play half of their games at home. You want to test the opponent in the best possible way at home as it is a place, where things are there as per the needs and demands of the hosts and gives them a big advantage.

But, Delhi Capitals, who are yet to clinch the IPL title are not getting the home advantage. In fact, the home conditions are playing into the hands of the visitors, which is making things extremely difficult for them. Even in the game against Hyderabad, the wicket was slow and helpful for spinners. Delhi have quality pacers like Rabada, Morris, and Ishant. Also, they have stroke-makers who like pace on the wicket.

Even Delhi's coach, Ricky Ponting slammed the wicket and termed it as the "worst" of the season so far. The Delhi franchise have asked for grass on Kotla wicket but unfortunately for them, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) have refused them to provide such wickets, which comes as an unfavorable news for them.

Speaking to IANS, one of the DDCA officials said, “The franchise has been asking for grass and a bit of pace on the wicket, but to be honest, it is just not possible. We have made this clear to them from the word go. At the fag end of the season, you cannot expect pace and bounce on the wickets. Even the practice wickets are slow and that gives them the perfect feel going into the game. We have tried to keep them as close to match conditions as possible.”

Harshit Anand Updated: 5 April, 2019, 3:56 PM IST

HIGHLIGHT

Until now, Rashid Khan was the lone superstar from Afghanistani to win games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, but now his countryman, Mohammad Nabi has also joined the party. Nabi is doing great for Sunrisers Hyderabad. This season is not the first time when he is playing for Hyderabad, but now the all-rounder is performing exceedingly well for them.

In the last two games, he has taken six wickets at an economy of 4, which is absolutely brilliant. His spell was crucial to Hyderabad's effort in stopping Delhi Capitals to a below-par total yesterday.

Nabi has now played a total of seven IPL matches for Hyderabad and the team has won all those games. He is yet to lose a single game.

Hyderabad climbed to the top of the IPL points table with the win against Delhi. Their bowling and opening combination have been pivotal to their red-hot winning streak.

Fan Issues Death Threat to Simon Doull For Criticizing Royal Challengers Bangalore

Staff Writer Updated: 5 April, 2019, 3:22 PM IST

HIGHLIGHT

Royal Challengers Bangalore are struggling big time in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. They have lost four consecutive games in IPL 2019 and it seems their fans are slowly losing patience. Former New Zealand bowler Simon Doull, who is one of the commentators, has been sent a death threat by RCB fan.

He has been told to never comment about RCB or be prepared to be killed. Doull shared a screenshot of the post on his Twitter handle. "Not sure what I said but a Death threat, Really. It's only a game of cricket Mate. Chill out," Doull tweeted

Doull's one-time Kiwi teammate Scott Styris didn't take it seriously and said, “He is right though." Most cricket fanatics have spoken in favor of the former Kiwi player after this incident.

"Please ignore such msgs Simon. You're a top bloke and it's been a pleasure watching you do your thing for many years now. Most of us absolutely love your work. Keep it up," said one commenter.

India and Pakistan are among the top three favourites for the World Cup – Hafeez

Staff Writer Updated: 5 April, 2019, 2:23 PM IST

HIGHLIGHT

Mohammad Hafeez believes India, England and Pakistan are the top three favourite teams to win the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup.

He is confident that Pakistan can defeat India in the World Cup and the recent ODI defeats won’t impact their performance in the mega event.

"Even from a critical point of view I think we are among the top three favourites for the World Cup. England is always favourites given the brand of cricket they are playing while India has developed a very good ODI side and have some great spinners in their line-up," Hafeez said on GTV News network.

Hafeez further added that the single format of the World Cup will work in favour of Pakistan as they have the tendency of performing better after playing one or two games.

"In the group system teams usually don't get second chances and remember in 2007 both India and Pakistan were eliminated in the first round," he said.
