Resurgent RCB will take on struggling RR in IPL 2024 Eliminator
Sunil Gavaskar hails RCB's remarkable turnaround in IPL 2024

Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has praised RCB’s incredible comeback in the current IPL season and believes that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru will easily defeat Rajasthan Royals in Wednesday’s Eliminator in Ahmedabad. Gavaskar praised the RCB’s comeback and the leadership of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis for inspiring the squad in difficult situations.

From the brink of elimination, RCB have battled its way back to the playoffs. The franchise went on a winning spree and defeated Chennai Super Kings to clinch a playoff berth despite losing seven games in the first half.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis has rediscovered his form with the bat, forming an impressive partnership with Virat Kohli. Rajat Patidar is also contributing with five half-centuries to his name. Will Jacks left the team, but veteran Dinesh Karthik with a strike rate of over 195, is dominating rivals. Pacer Yash Dayal bowled a brilliant final over against CSK in their most recent game.

“In my opinion, RCB have been extraordinary. First and foremost, they have faith in their ability to recover. That requires a unique quality. It is also necessary to mention that the two top players there, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, were most likely the ones motivating the rest of the team,” said Gavaskar,

“It doesn’t take long for other teammates to step into a situation in which we’ve lost everything. The seniors have the final say, and in my opinion, they’ve fulfilled their duty by showing to them how to play exceptional cricket,” he added.

The Royals were heading towards the top position before they lost four straight games and a wash out against KKR left them third on the points table.

When the Royals are at their best, they are unstoppable. However, their batting and bowling have been lacking firepower in the past four games. Their batting has been weakened by Jos Buttler’s exit. Yashasvi Jaiswal (348 runs), captain Samson (504) and Riyan Parag (531) will need to step up against RCB.

“I am afraid that the upcoming match will be another one-sided contest. RCB are playing well. They’ll walk all over Rajasthan. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll be shocked,” Gavaskar concluded.
