Clive Lloyd has the most adorable nickname for Virat Kohli

Clive Lloyd was the most successful captain of his generation, leading West Indies to two World Cup titles and pinnacle of Test cricket. Under his influential captaincy, Windies were invincible, winning matches against top teams.

He was the captain of the ship that had players like Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Gordon Greenidge, Viv Richards, and guiding them was not easy at all.

“My job was tougher than that of the Prime Minister of any island,” he said. “You had to develop a situation. There are 14-odd islands, different cultures. What you had to have is trust. Otherwise, they are not going to play for you. Winning, just like losing, is contagious.”

When asked about Virat Kohli, the former skipper went on to praise the Indian captain.

“He is doing extremely well. It was a bit unfortunate in the last Test (India lost by 31 runs in Edgbaston). I suppose you can’t be a pussy cat (laughs). You can be stern at times, as long as you don’t go over the line,” he said.

“He is a guy who has got to own that dressing room. And he performs, so he will galvanise the team. Virat is a rock star, box office,” he added.
